Friends of Te Horo Beach Inc (FOTHB) is an incorporated society whose aim is to undertake activities for the betterment of Te Horo Beach and its residents.

Core functions of FOTHB are:

  • Undertaking projects to improve local facilities and the natural environment
  • Holding community events
  • Maintaining the emergency defibrillator at the corner of Beach Rd and Dixie St.
  • Holding annual pre-summer training for members on CPR resuscitation and use of the defibrillator
  • Operating the Community Safety Cameras (CCTV) at the entrance to Te Horo Beach to detect burglars and illegal rubbish dumpers. Footage is made available only to the NZ Police in accordance with the Privacy Act and FOTHB protocol.
  • Conducting beach plastic and pollution patrols to keep our beach clean and safe
  • Co-ordination with KCDC to regularly provide beach cleanup resources and removal of beach rubbish from the FOTHB collection point. Contact us if you would like to help.
  • Co-ordination with GWRC to remove hazardous or poisonous material from our beach and to monitor the environmental state of the Mangaone Stream

Defibrillator

An emergency defibrillator is located on the corner of Te Horo Beach Rd and Dixie St. If you need to use the defibrillator, please dial 111 to get the unlock code and then follow the verbal instructions produced automatically by the defibrillator. The cabinet is alarmed, illuminated and temperature controlled. New defibrillator batteries and paddles are purchased on a regular basis to maintain optimum power and performance. This is funded by member subscriptions and fundraising.

Free Bore Water Testing

Residents of Te Horo Beach are eligible for free bore water testing from Kapiti Coast District Council. To have your water tested, please call at the Water Testing Laboratory located at 24 Fytfield Place, Paraparaumu, adjacent to the Water Treatment Plant. You will be given sample bottles and a work sheet to specify the tests you want undertaken. The sample bottles are returned to the Laboratory.
